Pleasure Reading ( Theatre by Somerset Maugham) 26-29

Rehearsals began and distracted Julia's troubled mind. Besides Roger, her son, arrrived from Austria to see his mother. He had been spending a few weeks on a Carinthian lake, talking about everything: about his future profession, about their relationship with Roger's father and mainly about theatre. Three days later Roger went up to Scotland and Julia studied her part, creating the character she was going to act by observation. Finally everything was success. The play went well from the beginning. There had been great applause after each act. Julie gave an excellent performance. After her triump, she realised that never in all her life there was another moment like this.  She had a sudden desire to see nobody and be seen by nobody. She wanted just for one hour to be obscure. She took a taxi and went to the restaurant, where her favourite table was waiting for her.
